When You Feel Lost

Are there days when you feel completely lost, as though you have no idea why you are here on earth? I know that I have those days occasionally. At those times I really need to hold on to the faith that I have. I need to look for meaning in my life and to reach out to friends for support and grounding. Realizing that these feelings are temporary and that it is my mind creating the pain, is helpful to me.

I am not always clear what thoughts specifically lead to these feelings, but because I meditate regularly, I do know that my “rational” thoughts are what cause my suffering. When I am meditating, I do not feel lost. I am at peace and feel the connection to all that is. It is only when I return to my regular thinking brain that I can again feel the distress.

I just watched a lovely video about Mary C. Neal MD,  a woman who had a near death experience and was describing the depth of love that she experienced on the other side. She will never lose that feeling of Divine Love  and it changes everything about her current life. You may find that watching this video helps you to feel lighter immediately.

It is our job to trust that what she describes is true for us and that in a few hours or days, we will again feel that connection that seems to be missing today. Know that connecting with friends, praying and meditation will bring you back to your true self. If there are things that you need to explore about your life, journaling may help you to understand them more quickly.

Feeling lost is not necessarily a bad thing, although it is not as pleasant as feeling deeply connected to Source. It is however a reminder that something is out of balance. It is the inner guidance system that we are given to help us realize when we have moved away from what is sacred to us. I appreciate its loving reminder to return to my heart center.
