Leadership in these Turbulent Times

Who has not noticed that there are events going on around the world that are creating catastrophes for millions of people. The superstorm Sandy here in the US has devastated an enormous area and left thousands homeless and cold, but it is one of many many events that have been occurring on the earth at this time. I believe that all of us would like a leader who is available, visible and full of integrity to guide us through these challenging times. A great leader can communicate with people in a way that does not increase the division between those in the crisis and those struggling to help with the crisis. A great leader inspires everyone to find their way to support one another and leads by example.

The founding values of our country were personal responsibility and support for our neighbors. We must all pull together to help each other through these amazing times and I believe that we came here at this time to do just that. And I know that alot of us feel afraid and uncertain. We doubt that we are strong enough to do it. And that is where leadership is so essential. Having a strong leader offer encouragement, compassion and empowering words can make the difference.

If we are ever going to solve the world’s problems we must begin at home. By that I mean we must turn around in our own families, neighborhoods and workplaces and see where we can lead the way toward reconnection and support. At the same time we need to see where there is need in the world and ask ourselves, how might we be of the most service? Each of us has a part to play. And we need to elect and follow leaders who will work together to solve problems and who will inspire the best in each of us. I want to follow someone who is present, involved, sees a path through and helps us to help ourselves. I want to vote for someone who is uplifting in their words and says to vote for love of Country, not revenge.
